Jigging requires a lot of rod without a lot of weight and the Penn Battalion fits this description perfectly. It's a durable rod too with strong guides and bulletproof reel seat! Get one and bend it on a big one

I’ve been using this combo for bottom fishing for striped bass on Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay. Perfect for trolling. It’s rugged and performs well; the reel is easy to use and seems superior to my older Penn reels. The retrieve is smooth and will handle large stripers. The combination of the rod and reel is perfect. I’m reaching for this combo at every opportunity. Stellar quality!

Very smooth casting, great reel nice range of drag on the bait runner. I got the 8000 size which is significantly larger than shimanos 12000

I have two Penn Slammer III 7500's paired with a Penn Carnage II medium/heavy 7 ft 50/100lb rods, both spooled with 65lb PowerPro braid. With 50lbs of drag, using the Dura-Drag system, the same silky smooth indestructible drag system as Penn International's, you will NOT find a better spinning reel combo for the money. This is an awesome general all purpose rig! Whether you are bottom fishing, high speed or slow pitch jigging, trolling, or casting, from Snapper, Cobia, Amber Jack, Kingfish, Mahi, to Grouper, Blackfin or Yellowfin, this rig won't disappoint! Infinitely better drag system and more line holding capacity then any other in this class such as the Daiwa BG. If you are looking for a general purpose, all around offshore spinning rod / reel combo, look no further!

No volvería a comprar otro.

I LOVE Penn rods and reels and have used them for many years. Nothing better, IMHO. My Penn combo arrived via UPS with only a plastic bag protecting it. A few of the rod's eyes were bent, but easily bent back to their proper alignment. Miraculously, no other damage. So. 4 stars for the vendor and 5 stars for UPS.

Received rod and reel combo when getting it out of packaging there was a small chip that fell off of reel and a screw that apparently came loose just laying in box . Other than that seems like a real nice setup and combo but with being damaged really not worth full price

The rubber heat shrink grip with enhanced finger grooves puts this rod over the top for me. It’s light and strong. I appreciate the the 9 high quality eyes on the 7 ft. Rod. I have it paired up with a Penn Spinfisher 5500 that I have spooled up with 40# braid, I expect this rod can handle anything that comes its way down here on the gulf Coast of Florida. I will update my review as I put the Penn Carnage 3 to the test.

I’ve bought two of these over the past two past weeks. One came perfect, the 2nd one seems used. I already had line on it before looking the rod over or I’d return. I love this setup and planned on adding more to my surf arsenal until this snag. Shipper/seller, please reach out - I’ll adjust my review if a remedy can be achieved.

The price point on this is phenomenal for such a versatile combo. This is the perfect mid range combo that is ideal for fishing for snappers and other medium size bottom fish and then a quick rig change will have you in the game to live bait troll for pelagic species such as king mackerel, sailfish and mahi.

Rod arrived in cardboard boxes with no damage luckily. It’ll be better if they were packed in rod tubes instead of cardboard boxes as the rod isn’t cheap... anyways yet to test the rod out... feels really good and solid holding it so far... might give an update on its performance after I test it.

This is the perfect inshore reel for going after redfish or any other inshore species. Reel is smooth and works like fine tuned machine. For some odd reason Penn only includes the foam handle with the 2500 version of this reel (all others come with foam and gold metal handles) which is hard to understand, but I asked and they told me the 3500 gold metal handle will fit on it. I ordered that handle from a Penn dealer online and now this reel is perfect. If you like the foam handle to each their own, but I’m just letting you know how it will arrive. Thank you Penn this reel will be my go to for many years, but please give us the metal handle standard on 2500.
