Bought this specifically to team up with my Tsunami TSSPJC-681H Trophy Slow Pitch Jigging Casting rod. It's a great lightweight combo and I can't wait to start using it in about a month or so on my favorite party boat(s). Very sturdy reel with great line capacity. It's a nice addition to my Squall 300 LPLH which I love and has done very well.

No where near as desirable as the Penn 505 HS with its' fast retrieve, but I needed this reel for bottom fishing for catfish and smaller saltwater bay fish from a boat. Sold all my Newell converted 505HS reels with spacer bars, and all the other strengthening accessories Newell offers for the 505HS on eBay for big bucks because I'm 74 and can't handle the larger brutes anymore. Don't try to handle the fish that pennoutlet.com says this reel will handle, Cobia, Kingfish, Small Tuna etc.. A large, strong fish will twist the frame due to the weak spacer bars, side plates, reel seat etc. They call this reel the Jigmaster, but don't try jigging with it. It casts like an Abrams tank! I know I've knocked it pretty hard, but I'm used to some damned fine reels.! This is an old, proven design by Penn and is unbeatable for bottom fishing for fish up to about 20lbs. Use 20lb line and up or you risk line getting caught between the spool and side frame. The opening is too wide. Another design flaw!

The roller barring is making a strange noise. Only used it once. Seems like bad quality.

This has been my absolute favorite reel I believe Ive ever had! Ive caught numerous species of fish, fresh and saltwater. It has never let me down even once. Ive caught double digit large mouth bass, giant smallies and so on. This reel is paured to a Penn rod and has only ran braid. It still casts like crazy, is silky smooth and has tons or braking power for its size. 10/10 still recommending after a full years worth or work. My #1 go to reel/rod set up for anything 20#s and less.

8500に8号300mリーダー3ヒロ巻いたら写真の感じでテンションちゃんとかけて巻いたらもう少し巻けるかも
針が伸びて魚はバラしてしまいましたが釣りしてみてトラブルもなく特に気になることはありませんでした
メタルノブは濡れると滑るのでよくないと思いましたがEVAノブも付属してるし巻きも軽いし全然普通でした
8号350mの8500Hと迷ったのですがマグロはルアー止めて見せて待っている感じで早巻きするわけでもないのであまり値段も変わらないのでローギアでステンギアのXDにしました
これ以上の糸巻き量が欲しいなら大きい10500にしたらいいと思うし

1つだけ気になったのはドラグ何キロか測ってないけどドラグノブ目一杯締めると手でスプール回しても動かないくらいに強く締まって1/4回転も緩めると手で楽に回って調整幅が狭くクイックな感じがしました
