It is very light and with very strong backbone. It is very well made rod. Shipping was extremely quick and first time ever it didn’t get damage. However, it was struggle to cast a small piece cut bait and a 10 oz sinker, so I switched to a penn battalion 12’ heavy.

I own multiple Penn reels and bought this for a recent bluefin trip. This reel did better than some for twice the price. The power handle is comfortable and feels great in the hand. Two speeds are nice when you have to gear down for the big ones.

ショアからのロックフィッシュやフラットフィッシュ用に2500HSを購入。
サイズ感は国産2500番とほぼ同じです。
スプール径48mm、ライン込み325g。
ハンドル長60mm、ノブ径約38mm。
手持ちの2500番で1番重い23ストラディックと比べて持った感じは正直大差ありません。
17ツインパXDのC3000がよりタフになった感じ。
前に買った6500はスフェロスやBGにも遠く及ばない巻きごこちしたが、2500は結構普通で
アブレベルの巻き心地は確保していると思います。
ただ巻き自体は重いです、国産のように勝手にハンドル回るような軽さは皆無です。
ペンらしさを捨ててベルハンマーグリスとか入れ替えれば改善はするとは思います。
リーリング流れの変化を掴むような繊細な釣りにはちょっと不向きな感じはしますが、タフさを求めるなら間違いない買い物だと思います。
自分の用途的にはスプール径が52mm前後であれば星5付けたいところでした。

I didn't realise how much I'd been struggling with a ,normal, reel that I was using for kayak and shore fishing until I bought one of these.

Extremely well designed and works very smoothly. Comes with a spare spool so that you can pre-load with different line for easy changing.

Doubled the casting distance from my old reel, but, more importantly for me it made the reeling in ever so much easier - especially on the bigger catches like the smooth-hound pictured (catch and release).

So happy with this reel that I bought another.
