If you want a quality reel, but budget is a limit, consider getting this. DX model is definitely upgraded version compare to regular slammer with more saltwater resistant components using stainless steel.

Great rod/reel combo for the price. Reel needed some manual adjustment and rod is fairly stiff, but did the trick on a west coast charter boat for 1 to 5 lb rockfish -- could have also handled larger fish.
