Works very well, very good functional utilitarian real. If you want to display your gear to impress others, fathom is better, if you want to fish and not spend too much, this will do the job very well!

Been using this for some time as part of a slow pitch jigging outfit for deep, large fish. It has held its own very well. It is not perfect, it will have a shorter lifespan than a premium reel because the metallurgy is prone to corrosion, but you can replace it a number of times and still come out ahead on cash spent.

The drag is powerful and smooth. The ergonomics are good. It catches fish. It has no trouble with big fish. Even tuna and wahoo.

Quality

Gorgeous rod. Arrived in one piece, but pennoutlet.coms packaging leaves something to be desired. These should be delivered in tubes and bubble wrapped, not highly bendable cardboard boxes. If you have time to spare for sending packages back in case of damage, no problem. If you're in a rush and you need to know for sure the pole is in one piece, buy local (the pole I purchased before this had a snapped tip). Packaging aside, I love it!
