Awesome fly rod and reel combo! The quality of Penn has always been top notch, and have been fishing with battle and battle 2 spinning reels for years. This fly reel is very nice and the drag system on it is smooth. The rod is nice as well. Looking forward to landing my first big fish.

The product is advertised as being 120ml of grease but you only get a 7g tube, 120 ml by weight would be very much more than 7g

The rod is built extremely well. It does have a Fuji reel seat and Fuji SIC guides. I use the rod for flounder shore fishing coupled with Abu Garcia C3 6500 which appears to be a great combo for that purpose. Usually throw 2.5 oz and 4 oz with it and never had any issues. The rubberized handle is just a pleasure to use. Overall, basically everything, build quality, finish, feel - everything is up to high standards. Comparing to two Ugly Stik Elite I recently ordered for salmon fishing, the quality is just amazing.

Used two new Fathom 30's for the first time recently fly lining live Ballyhoo for sailfish. The reel impressed my fishing buddy who is a die hard Shimano fan and uses high end Talica and Tiagra lever drag reels offshore. It has good line capacity, a very good drag system, good retrieve ratio (maybe a tad slow for kite fishing) and is a solid and smooth performer. Have two on Key Largo 20-30 custom standup rods for light to medium trolling duty from Dolphin to Sailfish in the Keys. An excellent reel at less than retail from through pennoutlet.com
