Excellent combo, smooth reel! Lost a star because one of my eyelids on the rod showed up bent and made a hairline crack but I can deal with it. A new rod would be nice

Penns lower end line of reels are pretty much junk. This reel is the Cadillac of there line

This Penn reel is durable and takes a beating. I used it all summer long and reeled in some large fish with it without any issues. You can't go wrong buying a Penn.

I love this new penn prevail rod, I added the penn clash 2 reel and it compliments the rod. These two make an excellent combination for saltwater fishing. I’ve caught strippers, speckled trout, Spanish mackerel, bluefish, and sharks on the many various lure that I use with this combo. One of the best that I have.. Thanks, Sean

Very solid build...no comparison to lower cost brands like kast king. Eg central main gear rod twice as thick as kast king.
On the other hand, makes for a heavy reel.
If you are not casting all day, eg surf or carp fishing...nice reel.
