Unfortunately Penn reels are not made in America anymore this one is made in China however it seems to be very well made, only time and a very large fish will tell. I believe it is still made with good quality for penn reels.

i think this is probably the worst experience i've ever encountered with an item sent by pennoutlet.com before. PLEASE take this as a warning and buy in-person or a trusted online seller instead of dealing with this disappointment. firstly, the rod and reel was shipped in a BAG. not in a package box or enveloped securely in protective wrap, just straight up shoved in a plastic bag. when my dad took it out he noticed that the bail was severely bent out of shape. he was able to somewhat fix it but he shouldn't have to for it to work (and it could've been prevented if shipping wasn't so awful). the kicker though was the rod itself. we went to the beach to test it out and literally the first swing my dad did it BROKE in half. in front of so many people. how does that happen??? my dad owns many penn rods, have swung them the same and none have crumbled like this. i'm assuming this is a return or a very faulty product. i HIGHLY suggest not buying from the penn store on pennoutlet.com to save yourselves the embarrassment. seeing my dad excited only for him to not even get to use it was so terrible to see.
