Great price for a Penn...priced of the reel with, effectively a free rod. Cannot wait to try it out this summer.

Bought this reel for a bottom set up for fluke tog and seabass and stripers and blues. i got the reel and it didnt reel right and was grinding and binding up i sent it back and exchanged it for a fathom star drag 8xnld. The fathom will hold 250 yards of 30lb braid makes 30lbs of drag is all metal and its only a third the size of the senator.

Bought 2 Penn Slammer 4 6500 reels based on good reviews for fishing in salt water situations. One of the reels started making a loud noise when reeling under load. Called Penn to find out about warranty and it would be 2 months turn around minimum. Called a Penn dealer closer to me and their words were "good luck getting parts". Would NOT recommend Penn and was told by the Penn dealer that Shimano and Bates have far better warranty service.

Works Great. I can cast my Squall SDCS at least 200-300 yards without any issue. I could get Farther but have to work on my technique. Size is perfect. Very nice design and the Rod is very Durable when tackling a decent sized fish. Casts like a Dream . Rod doesn't weight a lot so it makes casting even easier.
