Bought 1 as a gift from my brother. Liked it so I bought one for myself. Pole is a one piece which is not clear in the description. Using mine for pier and beach fishing in SW Florida. This combo easily handles pompano, perch and small sharks (Blacktip & Bonnetheads) up to 2ft long - haven't caught anything bigger yet other than unwanted catfish.
Smooth casting and nice action on the pole. I'd say worth the price tag.

I bought this for a recent trip to the sea. I was told how great the fishing was down there. How easy it was to catch sharks. How much fun it was going to be. But like most things when I get there I am told, man you should have been here last week!

Overall the reel is excellent and works so much better than the cheap alternatives. Casts are fun and tangles are less frequent for me. I can't talk about how much fun it was to pull in a big fish since I was a week late but I bet it would have been something special!
