Loves this rod. Very strong! Exactly as described. Happy with product. I would recommend to a friend!

This is not the same Penn quality product as Penn offered years ago. To my surprise I found a sticker under the reel’s base that reads MADE IN CHINA. What a disappointment folks! I’m going to try it anyway and follow up with a review update.

This reel turns the big fish real quick!! I use the Slammer 4500 for live bait inshore and it has been awesome to me. Mainly fish Black Drum, Snook, and Grouper so this bad boy is exactly what I needed. Definitely recommend!! Pricey but performs great!

I could not think of a better way to break in a new rod and reel combo than a trip to South Pass, Venice, LA. We landed bull red after bull red after bull red. The Penn Battalion II rod took all the abuse these brutes could throw. The Battalion II MH casting rod paired with the new Squall LP bait caster was a perfect set up for this area. I really like the locking reel seat. The fast action tip helps with making long casts and still has enough backbone to land the big ones.

Getting annoyed the way they ship this rod. Just got my replacement glad I never shipped back the first one yet. First rod the bottom sections main guide was totally shot and the aluminum oxide insert peice was missing. Replacement rod came today with a broken tip end and the aluminum oxide insert is nowhere to be found. I'm able to peice the two together and ship back a broken pole but I also notice on the replacement the graphite inside looks like it has a Crack inside... they need to ship in tubes not shotty careless fedex method. I recommend going to a store and finding this rod. This has been an interesting experience ordering a surf rod through pennoutlet.com. Great feeling rod but just keep an eye out on any flaws. I may return the somewhat good sections also expecially with a noticeable Crack and who knows how far it goes. Buy 2 or 3 at a time you might get 1 that works for you.

It came like its been used then cleaned up rem oil or something ....and its got a few scratches on the housing like it was a display unit at a bass pro ...i will update this after its spooled and casting Upon lining and casting this reel i must say penn makes amazing reels i place the ramshackle condition it was in on fedex... the few small blemishes... such as life besides musky dont care

My favorite reel

Bought this for my daughter. First time out using this reel, she caught a keeper sturgeon! She had no problem fighting this fish. Like using an automatic winch!

Este animal peso 26.8 libras, fue capturado con una caña PENN BATTLE II 10' MEDIO DE 8 GUIAS, CON UN CARRETE PENN BATTLE III 5000, DIO MUCHA PELEA Y TANTO LA CAÑA COMO EL CARRTE SE OORTARON MUCHO MEJOR DE LO ESPERADO, UNA COMBINACIÓN PERFECTA, LA RECOMIENDO, LA CAÑA ES LIGERA Y EL CARRETE TIENE UN EXCELENTE FRENO,

I have use the penn battle regularly. When I got this package everything looked great. Rod had no bent eyes or damage to rod. Reel looked clean and no obvious defects on first glance. But first time I used it I noticed casting reeling the line would snag making it jerk around. Tried a few times on the rod and then took the line out. The action felt fine ok wth. Looked closer and saw the reel has a twist and bend in it. Which threw off alignment with the rod. I don’t believe this is damage from shipping as there a no marks on the finish and no damage to box it came in. With the bend and twist being as severe as they are I would think the cast body would snap with the pressure needed to do that.

This reel is very smooth and nice, took 300 yds of Power pro v2 65lb, I haven’t used it yet, I have a trip planned later this month hopefully hook up on some tuna and dorado out of San Diego

very small size that barely fits my penn reel. although material and logo printing quality is superb

I have two of these rods, medium/heavy 7 ft 50/100lb paired with a Penn Slammer III 7500's spooled with 65lb PowerPro braid. With 50lbs of drag, using the Dura-Drag system, the same silky smooth indestructible drag system as Penn International's, you will NOT find a better spinning reel combo for the money. This is an awesome general all purpose rig! Whether you are bottom fishing, high speed or slow pitch jigging, trolling, or casting, from Snapper, Cobia, Amber Jack, Kingfish, Mahi, to Grouper, Blackfin or Yellowfin, this rig won't disappoint! Infinitely better drag system and more line holding capacity then any other in this class such as the Daiwa BG. If you are looking for a general purpose, all around offshore spinning rod / reel combo, look no further!

Arrived with damage- reel looks like has been used and not new!
