The item arived superfast (by tracking), but was misplaced by the delivery person, so I found it couple of days later and couple of blocks away. pennoutlet.com was great, they did not charge me and suggested to keep the rod if I found it later :-). Well I did but only to be used once...This rod looks great and feels fast and strong. It is listed to hold 20 pound mono/30 pound braid. On my first trip I used 15 pound mono with crocodile lure to get some bonito. The lure got tangled in the kelp. I was sure the line would break first, but I was wrong. The bottom piece of the rod snapped and about10 inch piece broke off into water. It was floating like a balsa wood! Well, this rod is weak. I also noticed that the top eye was somehow uneven/tilted, not sure if on purpose (see photo). Well I do not recomend this rod. I got Ugly Stick instead, lets see how that will hold. Still I glued it together with a glass insert (see 2 nd photo), it may work with super thin line for catching bait and small fish. After all I got it for free :-))) Howvet I would never put on it 30 pound braid and loose a yellowtail or a nice bonito. Penn, your reels are great but this rod is a failure :-(

These were just released in November 2024 and I got mine by Nov 11. I’m I’ll guess I’m the first to write a review. I’m impressed! These reels are stout and solid. Not only do they look sexy, this reel is smoooooth. Oh yes. I bought two 6000’s. If you’re gonna buy a battle iv, for a few bucks more, why not get the DX? And as you can see, it has a nice comfortable round handle to hook some lip. Next…I’m headed off the Fishermans Warehouse to get them saddled up with new war sticks. Happy fishing boys…😃 oh I bought Penn neoprene reel covers for them too. The size chart says Large. They were way too tight. So I got XL and fit perfect for reference.

Overall, it’s a pretty good reel cover. Definitely worth the money considering the prices that some of these reels go for. I did have trouble sizing these covers to my reel model, a Squall 25, because it wasn’t listed on the Penn size chart. There are good stitches at the seems, but not so good stitches at the Velcro tab to secure the cover. The Penn logo looks pretty good, and I hope it doesn't peel or crack after exposure to the elements in the long run. I did order 2 sizes, and was thankful there were free returns for the size that didn’t fit. The XXS size cover was snug, and the housing around the handle really made for a tight fit. I picture the Velcro’s stitching tearing away over time. The XS had room to spare and can easily fit a reel larger than what I have, but there is less stress on the Velcro tab. I didn’t experience any problems with the seller and did keep the XS cover. The pictures included show: 1) the packaging; 2) the Penn size chart; 3) two pictures of my reel; 4) two pictures of the XS cover; 5) two pictures of the XXS cover; 6) a close up of the Velcro stitching.

Bought the first reel and it came with the bail arm bent down allowing the arm to hit the spool when opened. I returned it and ordered a new one and the second reel had the arm bent down again. This time the reel is also squeaky. Future reels will be purchased in person.

It came but when I set it up the tip was broken

Looks beautiful, came in perfect condition. In a few days I'll be going out to try it.

Severely damaged rod.

This is a great rod with sensitivity, enough backbone to handle 30” redfish and enough give to use a lighter line for those sudden runs a redfish makes. I ended up buying 3 because I liked them so much.

Reel ok, but rod is horrible. Reel seemed to be ok but only got to use it to loose two descent sized fish. Since both of my first two fish broke the line due to the rod. I bought this to go fishing on a charter boat in Mexico waters below San Diego. My first two fish snapped my expensive line rated well above the weight of the fish. I then found out why: The metal ring for eyelet was missing. This caused the line to cut through the plastic which made my $30 line break and actually stripped it. This pole has metal inserts for the eyelets that either aren't there when you receive the pole or that can fall out at any time while fishing. The metal ring for eyelet was missing when my pole was received, but I didn't notice this. I had to use a rented pole for the rest of the fishing trip. Mine is being returned. Get a pole with solid metal eyelets or you will regret it when catching descent sized fish. Reel is also attached to the rod with plastic. I didn't notice this in the pictures before buying the Rod and Reel combo. I hope this review helps. I don't mind paying extra for quality. How about you?

!!!! Sizes !!!! The reel covers are fine and as described but unfortunately, sizing is not listed on here based on the reel. I've taken a picture of the list for sizing to assist others in proper fitment..

Cover seems to be well made but being a penn product I would think it would fit the intended reel it was made for. The two holes on the top for the harness so not match up to the reel.

I have a similar rod and reel that was shipped the same way and received it with one eyelet bent. I love the rod and reel but can’t use them when they are damaged. This one, all eyelets were damaged. Was hoping to use it this weekend but will now not have it for my fishing trip. I wish these would be shipped in more than just a bag.

Haven’t caught anything yet let you guys know

I really love these reel covers! Its such a great way to protect your expensive reels. I have it on a Penn 940 level wind & its a little loose but doable. I like the Penn logo on it and the neoprene material. I have already purchased 3 more for my spinning reels. I highly recommend them.

Great rod casts a long way into the surf my advice is hit the gym and get in shape as this monster will wear you out !!
