Spoiled up great I was worried about the reviews saying it spoled up uneven but mine worked out so well, this thing built like a tank !
I only gave 4 stars because, the sizing chart for reels was on the back of the packaging for the neoprene cover. I did take a picture of the chart and included it.

Number one, the Bell never closed on me yet. The size of this reel is 6500 and does not have an automatic bail trip it is manual which makes it ?% accident proof. Some reels have a automatic bail trip so you can start reeling line right away. If you throw lures and plugs on shore you'll know what I'm talking about. The bail automatic trip will engage soon as the handle starts turning. Some people as they throw their lines hard the handle is free to move which causes the automatic trip to engage causing lines to snap and lures donation. Finally caught my first striper on this reel , it's always hard for me to break in New gear, got the skunk off now it's time to play. The reel is very smooth and the dual drag is nice and tight. Love that they included the foam knob for cold weather . I like the aluminum knob much better for now looks and feels awesome.

Edit- I got a replacement and the process was easy. My new rod seems to work great with no issues and no breaks yet. I look forward to testing this rod on some big fish and updating here to elaborate further in the future. Below is original post with what was at the time a One Star review. Will add video soon. Never got to use this rod. Was adjusting drag, pulling line with my bare hand, screw was still in wobbly-loose stage of adjustment. SNAP broke off between 3rd and 4th eyelet. Really disappointed, my friends have recommended Penn for years. I am terribly disappointed in my first Penn product.
I paired it with a daiwa BG 5000 It'll definately take misuse to cause any kind of damage to this rod It's a broomstick !!! Nice and beefy Edit : the gimbal cover falls off very easy and the insert fell out of the top eyelet I use but not abuse my rods I take extra care when transporting and fighting fish so I have no idea why the insert came out Granted it happens Dropping my rating due to customer service with not only the seller via this rod but also penn themselves when trying to find a replacement for the insert and gimbal cover I've got mine setup for catching turtles from ponds and catfishing from my kayak It being shorter makes it more manageable while in a kayak
Maybe a little soon to be writing a review, but I had my 8000 spooled with 80 lb. braid paired with a Shimano Trivala XH and hooked into a yellowfin tuna that had to be 40-50 lb.s while trolling a cobia lure. Sadly did not have the gear to get him up on deck, but he was fun. It took 10 minutes at most to get him to the side of the ship and I am on a Navy warship which not very accommodating. The reel handled that tuna like a champ. Could have handled something twice his size or better if we were sitting still. The photo is roughly from 15 ft above the water.

I ordered two of these. One was missing the handle for the reel and the other one was broken with only half the rod.
This reel is top notch. Brings in red snappers in like no other . Almost feels like cheating when you drop it in low gear .. and it is MADE IN THE USA!!!!!
Made in CHINA! I thought PENN was better than this. Sad. I want a made in USA reel.
Bought this Friday and had reef fish on the next morning. I REALLY like this rod. I bought the 6’6” medium and have it paired with a spinfisher V 4500. I loved how light the rod felt and how sturdy it was. I am using braided line so I will be watching the guides to see if any grooving takes place. If I don’t update this review with a downgrade, consider it a 5 star!
