Not much to not like. I use it for trolling walleye and the line counter works great.

Reel arrived in not working order and had to be sent back. Should not have left the factory.

Penn has always been good, caught several sandies trolling first trip.

Ordered 5 of the small line counter reels and had trouble right away with the line counter on 2 of them. After looking at the internals I can see that the shaft that runs the line counter is pretty flimsy and can easily disengage the counter.
My advice is don’t but the line counter models. The rest of the reel is very solid though, I have one non line counter version and love it.

Update 2020. I have a bout seven of these now. If reels were trucks, this would be the Ford F-150. Very basic, very reliable. I have replaced the non-handle side plates on three of them because the clicker button stays in place by friction of a chokepoint made of plastic. It eventually wears out, but they’re pretty easy to work on, and parts or cheap. I’ve gotten huge sturgeon out of the Columbia river, and countless big salmon. The reels don’t break unless you just wear them out, and they can hold up to heavy abuse with very little maintenance.
I have three of these reels. Great reel for the money. For the price I’d give five stars, but the drag began to stick on one of the three. I had to disassemble the reel and grease it thoroughly, and still not perfect, but better.

It is a good reel. Light and strong enough. You can read the number to get how the how deep the water probably.
