I maintain about 15 reels each year; a combination of freshwater and saltwater ranging from spinning, to conventional to baitcasters. I use this grease on all of the major gears and threads. Never had a problem. Use in combination with a good reel oil for the finer parts. There are much more expensive grease options, but I’ve been using Penn for decades and have yet to have a problem.

I probably didn’t need this for my flyfishing reel, but a little dab on the spool shaft seemed to smooth things out well. Just be sure you know what you are buying as the picture doesn’t match the size of the tube you are buying.
