Great rod/reel combo for the price. Reel needed some manual adjustment and rod is fairly stiff, but did the trick on a west coast charter boat for 1 to 5 lb rockfish — could have also handled larger fish.

Cost approx $80 separated so $60 together is reasonable
Rod is semi stiff, light enough for all day use.
Reel not as smooth as I hopped however I am satisfy with the overall feel.
(this is my 8th penn set, 1st conventional set however)

Straight to the point. Unlike other reviews the box and all the inner packaging came in good condition. The 6ft Rod feels sturdy. The reel arrived in factory new condition with all the parts tight. Great reel great rod. Nuff said.

Rod/Reel look great and feel high quality. I have not yet used them. I bought two, and one arrived with the reel bracket clamp un-screwed, and the packaging loose such that the specialized screws had gotten lost. The bracket screws on both combo sets was loose, but on one the screw had actually gotten lost. No big deal – I ordered another set on ebay for 8 bucks, but it was a nuisance. A little QC would tighten those screws down for shipment, and not leave them loose to fall out. Product is great quality – I suspect the seller didn’t do a good job prepping/packing.
