   These Penn Fierce reels have held up better than many of my more expensive spinning reels. I own several Fierce reels that are 5 years old, and they still work great, and I fish them regularly. They require very little maintenance, and as far as I can tell are virtually indestructible. I wish I could say that about my Pfluger reels which cost twice as much. I also own Penn Battle reels, which are about twice the price of a Fierce model. They are great reel as well, but when fighting a big fish, I can’t tell you any significant difference. That’s why I don’t think there is any reason to spend more money on any other brand or model of reel. They work perfectly, and they are built like a tank. You won’t be replacing these bad boys very often. I own Penn Fierce 5000, 6000, model reels, and I got the Fierce 8000 to attach to an 8′ Heavy action rod for reef and open water jigging off the Atlantic coast of Florida. The reel case is well sealed, with a removable handle for maintenance. The spool is drilled out to make the newer models lighter, and the Bail wire is nice and thick with little or no flex (an improvement over the older Fierce models). The drag is easily accessible and adjustable with the top dial. The drag is very strong and can be adjusted mid-fight with ease. Love these reels, and I won’t ever buy another brand, as long as they make them.

   I have the 3000 and 4000 sizes with 30 lb powerpro and both operate very smooth have held up to many hundreds of huge redfish, trout, and snook over the past few years. on a fluke cast with the 3000 series hung a 7′ Tarpon and fought it for 2hrs of reeling and burning out until we landed it and the reel still work like it was new.

   I love this reel, and it’s amazing for the price, but you should know that it’s not perfect for everything. I would absolutely use this for freshwater and inshore salt/brackish water, but wouldn’t recommend it for surf or offshore fishing. I’ve been using it for surf fishing in FL, and it’s worked great, but since it just has shielded bearings and its exposed to saltwater a lot, I have to service it once every 2-3 trips I take. I’ve pulled in a 30lb bonnethead and dozens of other fish with no problems, but If you were using it constantly in/near saltwater, I’d consider one of the better Penn models with sealed SS bearings (like the spinfisher- I have 2).

   Its light, durable, strong, and very capable especially for its price. I’d pair it with 30lb braid and you can take on just about everything inshore and nearshore. Would definitely recommend it to anyone on a budget.

   I bought a 4000 and a 5000 Fierce II, both of which I used last season. They’re fine. I used them in the surf and had no problems, though I did keep them out of the water as much as possible. Fought a 5 ft brown shark to the beach with the 5000 and caught schoolie bass and tailor blues with the 4000. They worked fine and felt quite sturdy. I did actually drop one in the suds briefly and I was somewhat surprised at the lack of sand and water intrusion. I don’t expect they’d take much of that though as they’re not sealed like some of the more expensive models. Four stars for durability at this price point. It’s only been one season but so far I’m good with the purchase.

   This reel is awesome it works well with the fishing rod I built. For saltwater fishing rinse your rods and reels off after you use them and re grease and oil them once a year. The 2500 does what I need. It is a basic reel that I can put 8lb fluorocarbon or light braid on. I fish both fresh and salt water. Great reel for inshore fishing.

   So far so good. I will return and give more information after having this product in use for a while. I like the size, as I have several other reels that are just too big for general opportunities of the fish available and those reels will be used for bigger fish. This reel I will to use on the water from shore and my Kayak. I really like it for it’s price, smoothness and the feel of a quality product. My last reel was returned after receiving it, as it was just wobbly when I handled it and I just knew it would probably fail after some use. Not this one! The handle, the bail the spool when felt with a little force held in place and indicated good design and craftsmen ship. I like it and will begin to use the hell out of it.

    Der Preis geht auch in Ordnung.

    Nutze sie hauptsächlich zum Hering und Hornhecht angeln.
    Bei beiden Fischarten konnte sie mich überzeugen und machte eine gute Arbeit.

    Bei anderen Rollen hatte ich teilweise zu kämpfen 3 Heringe mit einmal rauszubekommen – mit dieser hatte ich selbst bei 6 Heringen mit einmal kein Problem sie an Land zu bekommen. 😉
