   My new 6′ heavy action Penn Carnage Spinning Rod CARJGII80200S60 is a beast! The huge and very tall eyelets match perfectly to my monstrous Penn SVV10500 reel. As I am a gator hunter I added 400lb test braided Dyneema and 600lb American Fishing Wire snaps, swivels and cable. As a test I rigged up a 300lb barbell and lifted the entire thing off the ground. I had to hold the spool on the reel to do it, but the feat was quite impressive. I am amazed how thin this rod is and yet is casts 12 ounce 16/0 weighted treble hooks like nothing, even with the ridiculous 1.3mm thick line. I run out of line before this rod runs out of cast.

   These rods are awesome. I have the 6′ Heavy and the 6’4″ Medium Heavy versions. I use the 6′ with a Penn Spinfisher V 8500LL and the 6′ 4″ with a Fierce II 6000. while I put these together for jigging, they combos actually cast great with these rods.I use them on a 13′ Ocean Kayak. I was really concerned about the shipping. I’m at an APO address, so it is a rough ride for the mail to here. The box for the 6′ 4″ rod was really mangled, but luckily the rod was in excellent condition. The box for the 6′ rod and the rod were in great condition. Warning: these rods are packed loosely in the boxes, so they might take a pounding in the mail. I got lucky!

   Nothing like these rods. Use one and you will realize you do get what your paying for when it comes to rods. I went from ugly sticks to these and these are in a whole other class. I still love my unbreakable ugly sticks, but when the bites on I reach for one of these and enjoy it even more.

   This is my fourth one of these rods. Great rod, was a little nervous when I saw size of rod compared to line rating the first time I bought one. I’ve caught everything from red snapper to 6 ft sharks. Can’t beat them for the price and they look very good.
