   I have to give the product a 5-star rating because it is a nice quality rod and reel combo. My problem was that I didn’t know what I was buying. I’m not a fisherman. I was buying it for my father for Christmas. I wanted to find a really nice quality rod and reel as a gift. The reviews were good for this one so I went for it. I didn’t know how huge and heavy this rod and reel would be. I didn’t know that this rod and reel is primarily for people who are fishing out in the ocean off of their boat. It’s not meant for someone who likes to fish at a marina. You really have to mount this on a boat because it’s too heavy to hold up by itself. So, if you know what you want and this is it then I do recommend it.

   I ordered this Combo hoping it would just be a good strong setup,I did so much research on Penn products and I didn’t find anything negative, even though I have,nt taken it out to the Deep as yet but I’m pretty sure I won’t be disappointed. The Rod is a Slammer with roller guides, not what I expected (I’m pleased) The Reel is the 114H2 model once again not what I expected (I’m pleased). This setup is one of the best deals you can get for the price and setup can’t wait to go test this on some of those deep water Snappers and Jacks.GREAT DEAL

   the bolts for the graphite pole clamp were bent and the clamp will not fasten securely to the pole.
   everything else is as expected.

   Use this for trolling for wahoo & mahi. Not the best rod and reel out there but a great value for the money for weekend fishing.

   Out of the box I was impressed with the stout rod & big heavy reel which would undoubtedly allow me to haul monsters from the depths. Unfortunately after placing the reel onto the rod I realized the reel & line guides were not all aligned and there is a good 10 degree offset to the 1st line guide. This one shouldn’t have made it through quality at the factory. Submitted claim to Penn rather than returning to pennoutlet.com. If it turns into more of a hassle I’ll just return to Amz The reel appears to be A-OK so 2 stars
