Love my Penn Fathom II. Good quality like the 1st gen. Expensive yes but also smooth as butter. Have tournament fished for catfish and this is the cadillac even compared to Abu 7000s from Sweden.

Very happy with this reel! It’s everything I expected it to be – lightweight, level wind works great, and the 5:1 gear ratio makes reeling up in deep water faster/easier. Haven’t had it long enough to comment on durability, but I expect with basic cleaning, oil, lube (a must for saltwater) it’ll hold up just as well as my Warfare 20LW has.

I’ve caught everything from snapper to grouper to mackerel with this reel. Lightweight and very durable. Good drag for the size reel. Level wind keeps up as long as you wash it with fresh water after any salt water use. I’d consider buying another I like it so much.
