this is what happens when they don’t actually test their product in the real world. The weak handle design and the silver paint was a horrible idea.. yes it looks better but it starts chipping off after the first use and by the end of the season…horrible. I have and use penn reels from 20 years ago and I doubt these new fathoms will last me a couple of seasons. bummed because I try and stick with Penn but doesn’t look like I can anymore.

Haven’t used it yet, but be aware that the handle has changed. Handle bar is solid and straight and the handle itself is not the large grip. Assuming these were changes because of issues with the old handle bending. Solid handle bar is good, but wish it was still angled and wish it had the large grip.
