   Getting my fly rod was a challenge.
   BassPro does not carry in store. They do not ship this product to store. They ship to you 14+ days is What I was told.

   Contacted Penn. They were helpful but 7ish days to get it.
   Ordered from pennoutlet.com. Had New Fly Outfit in 30 hours, a day and a third.

   The outfit works very well. I was practising casting and caught a 11 inch bass.
   I purchased this outfit to use in saltwater.. I could not convince the snook at Anna Maria that my fly was live bait. It was fun trying.

   I’ve been fly fishing for 10+ years and have never had a rod snap from casting. Penn may make good spinning reels but their rods are trash. Go buy a TFO and a decent reel and save the headache.

   Great 10wt fly rod, however i found it to be a little stiff for my liking. I changed the fly line to a 11wt sinking tip and feels great.
   Rod and reel are great quality, the rod also had dots to line up the pieces.
   The the only thing I’m disappointed about is the leader it came it wasn’t the best felt frayed i changed it out as well.

   Ordered the 8wt a couple months ago. Fished it about 12 times. The drag on the reel isn’t great. Tip section snapped in two places on a small redfish. I paid the $249 for it. So I guess it’s worth it. In my opinion get something if you plan on fishing a lot. Sorry Penn. I love my Penn Slammer 3 spinners though.

   Really impressed with the combo so far. Comes with lots of backing and the fly line does indeed have a welded loop. The reel is not fully sealed so keep that in mind when saltwater fishing. But the real does have a smooth drag system with a satisfying click. I think the only thing missing is that there is no hook keeper above the handle which is odd. Everything else is quite nice upon looking it over and setting it up. It does handle large bass poppers well and is able to cut through the wind like a large fly rod should. A fantastic starter combo for targeting larger fish without breaking the bank.

   Fly fishing is expensive, introduce saltwater and the price goes even higher. Is this the best rod, real and line set up on the market – no. This is however a solid buy for someone getting into the sport and needs something prebuilt for them to start practicing.

    Awesome fly rod and reel combo! The quality of Penn has always been top notch, and have been fishing with battle and battle 2 spinning reels for years. This fly reel is very nice and the drag system on it is smooth. The rod is nice as well. Looking forward to landing my first big fish.
